Optic: Fourth order Fresnel (1856), still in use

Other buildings still standing: 1854 keeper's house (now Coast Guard housing), 1895 oil house, generator building

Active U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation.

Accessibility: The lighthouse is located in Owls Head Light State Park. There is a large parking area near the lighthouse, and the grounds are open to the public.

In the 2011 season, the lighthouse tower is open three times per week:

Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesdays 1 p.m to 5 p.m.

The lighthouse is licensed to the American Lighthouse Foundation and is managed by the Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse.
