Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands
Friends of Flying Santa - A nonprofit group dedicated to maintaining the traditional flights to lighthouse keepers and their families at Christmastime, now continued as a way of expressing gratitude to Coast Guard families. This great tradition was started by Bill Wincapaw in 1929 and was carried on by Edward Rowe Snow for over 40 years.

Friends of Seguin Island, Inc.- This group has done wonderful work taking care of one of the most historic light stations in Maine. Do what you can to support them!
Grand Banks Schooner Museum Trust - Maintains Ram Island Light in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Horton Point Lighthouse and Nautical Museum -  The keeper's dwelling now houses
the Southold Historical Society's Nautical Museum. This is part of a larger site on Long Island Lighthouses.
The Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum, Long Island, New York.
The Museum of Lighthouse History in Wells, Maine, is operated by the American Lighthouse Foundation. 
The Nauset Light Preservation Society in Eastham on Cape Cod. Read about how this historic tower was saved from oblivion.
New England Lighthouse Lovers -  A fast growing organization of people from all six New England states, New York, New Jersey, and beyond. 
The New Jersey Lighthouse Society - Lots of historical information, photos, and information on visiting the lights.
Portland Harbor Museum - On the grounds of historic Fort Preble in South Portland, Maine, overlooking beautiful Casco Bay. The museum has custodianship of historic Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse.
Portland Head Light Museum and Park in Maine.  One of New England's most famous treasures.
Project Gurnet and Bug Lights - This group cares for two historic lighthouses in Massachusetts: Plymouth (Gurnet) Light and Duxbury Pier (Bug) Light.
The Range Light Keepers - A group of interested local Maine citizens and visitors who are participating in an historic opportunity to maintain and preserve an important piece of the maritime history of Maine -- the Doubling Point (Kennebec River) Range Lights and the Fiddler's Reach fog signal tower. A unique light station - check out their site! 
Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation of Rhode Island. This organization has performed miracles and has brought a jewel of the Narragansett Bay back to life.

Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum - includes the Hooper Strait Lighthouse.
Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society - Focusing on implementing the U.S. Lighthouse Society's goals in the Chesapeake Bay area, particularly with regard to the lighthouses and lightships of Virginia and Maryland.
Currituck Beach Lighthouse - In Corolla, North Carolina. This lighthouse welcomes visitors from around the world to its historic compound on the northern Outer Banks.
Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse Foundation, Inc. - Dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Delaware River & Bay lighthouses.
The Florida Lighthouse Association -  This organization is working to save and preserve Florida's lighthouses and their special role in the maritime history of the state.

The Key West Art and Historical Society - Manages the Key West Lighthouse.

Cape Decision Lighthouse Society - A nonprofit Alaskan corporation which was awarded the stewardship of the Cape Decision Light Station and Lighthouse Reserve by the US Coast Guard in April of 1997.
 Juneau Lighthouse Society - Formed in 1997 for the purpose of the preservation and maintenance of Five Finger Lighthouse located in Frederick Sound, Southeast Alaska.

Lighthouses to Visit (Maritime Heritage Program)

Lighthouse Heritage (Maritime Heritage Program) -- Includes the Inventory of Historic Light Stations. An important resource.

National Archives - You can search many of their holdings online using the NARA Archival Information Locator (NAIL). Many lighthouse documents are located in regional branches of the National Archives, such as Waltham, Massachusetts. Thousands of photographs and architectural drawings are at the National Archives facility in College Park, Maryland.
National Lighthouse Center and Museum, Staten Island, New York. Read about this exciting museum-to-be!
U.S. Coast Guard - Resources of the Historian's Office This site now includes a great deal of information on lighthouse history, historic photos and an extensive bibliography.
U.S. Naval Historical Center - Their library in Washington D.C. includes material on lighthouses. You can search their online catalog.
